A sweater and a few other recent projects

Here is a pic of the sweater I'm knitting... I don't know what that french business says! The pattern is by Connie Chang Chinchio and I'm knitting it in Rowan's Cocoon. It is so warm and soft! I can't wait to finish it up so I can post some pictures of it on!

Randoms

FYI: Nablopomo = National Blog Posting Month
Remember, that is why I'm blogging everyday instead of my usual bimonthly post!

Yesterday we went to the library. I caught Ben crawling around on the floor eating something. It was a dead bug. I really didn't have that big of a freak out, either (on the outside.) I am a mother of two boys! Also, Ben climbed up a very wide step in the children's section to a low shelf that housed board books. He fell down ( as he is doing a lot these days... he's getting a little daring with the standing and not holding on if you ask me!) Big drama and crying. Of course bad mommy tells him it's okay and he'll be fine. Here is a picture of him this afternoon.

Poor shiner Ben.

Also, they are working on our sidewalk in front of the townhouse. We can't park in our spots for the next 3 days which is a little unfortunate, but, on the upside, we have a construction show going on right outside our front window!

Yesterday it was little mini diggers, a jackhammer, and a big dump truck.

Today... a cement mixer!!!!!
I can't wait to see what they bring tomorrow... If they don't show up, I think I'll have two sad boys!

As for a picture of the sweater I'm knitting... check back tomorrow. I already shared enough for today and I might not have anything to say then!

Halloween 2010!

What a fun Halloween weekend we had! Friday night we went to see a free Justin Roberts concert at an outdoor mall nearby and participated in some trick-or-treating. It was chilly! Ben's costume was perfect and Owen was too excited to get cold! We enjoyed some hot chocolate at Starbucks before the concert started so we could warm up a bit (Ben had milk!)

Don't mess with this cop!

"On a call"
It was chilly! Ben's costume was perfect and Owen was too excited to get cold! We enjoyed some hot chocolate at Starbucks before the concert started so we could warm up a bit (Ben had milk!)What are they doing to me now???

Justin Roberts was awesome! I think we took Owen to see him at the Printer's Row festival when he was about 14 or 15 mos. Owen had a great time dancing and running with some other kids and Ben just couldn't stop watching!

He loved it!

He is a little man who just loves music/ singing/ dancing, etc. I keep trying to find a music class for both of them that Owen wouldn't be too bored in. We tried Music Together in Gaithersburg which was for kids under 6. Of course the kid closest in age to Owen was 2, so he was not impressed (at all.) When we got in the car he said, "That was boring." Everyone was very nice and Ben loved it, so thank goodness Owen held his tongue until the car!

Saturday we carved our pumpkin

It was a beautiful day, so the boys enjoyed the sunshine on the back patio while Mike did the dirty work!

Please note my hand knit socks... the pattern is called Jaywalker if anyone is interested...

Everyone got in on the fun!

Sunday we went to Montgomery Mall for a little trick-or-treating.

We had something to return, so we got there early. It was a good thing, too! It got super crowded!

We lasted about 45 minutes before we went over to stop by Grandma and Grandpa Walsh's for another treat.

Ben went right for the candy bowl and pulled it off the coffee table! He kept grabbing tootsie pops (wrapped, of course) and shoving them in his mouth!

The ride home! One tired cop! The little monkey was out, too!

But they both perked up pretty quick at the mention of a Happy Meal! (I know, I know... they did not need more junk food on Halloween!) After we got home, Owen handed out candy to a few trick-or-treaters, and both the boys went to bed. They slept great!

November Blogging

So I guess there is some thing where you try to blog everyday in November. And a thing where you try to knit a sweater in November. I'm going to try both! You can watch my progress here!!! FYI- I started the sweater about a month ago. I know this might seem like cheating, but I'm being very up front about it! I just want to finish it in November. It feels like heaven and from our brief run through JCrew yesterday, it is very in style. How nice it will be to have one in style thing in my wardrobe (that wasn't a hand me down from Em!)
So look out tomorrow for pictures of the sweater in progress and some good old Walsh Halloween fun!

Owen's first field trip!

Tuesday was Owen's first field trip! We went to a pumpkin farm/ apple orchard in Poolesville with his class. It is funny that they call it a field trip, considering that each child had to be accompanied by an adult and we all met at the farm. Oh, well! I guess that is how things work with 3 year-olds! And, I was more than happy to go (more like overjoyed!) I have been waiting to see O in action with his school friends and teachers. Best of all, we got to bring Ben, too!

Climbing the hay bales

In the barn

Feeding the goats

Chickens
Stinky sheep!

Hayride to the pumpkin patch
Searching for that special pumpkin

Found it!
Ben doesn't know what to think about that pumpkin!

Hayride back to the farm.

Owen actually took this picture of Ben and I

A nice mom took these pics of the boys and I... I wish it was easier to get a good picture of 2 little boys!
Owen doesn't quite get how these things work. We need to keep practicing, I guess! We bought some apple cider and the most delicious fuji apples ever! I think we'll have to take an apple picking trip to Homestead farm next fall.
