Well, what can I say... We had a really busy March (and apparently February, too!) I don't want to leave anything out, so I'll start at the beginning...
Mom's Club tour of the fire stationOur fire chief, checking out the fire fighter's lounge
Can you tell he's in heaven?!!
Rescue hero!
Checking out the pumps...
Driving the truck
Ben had fun, too!
A visit from cousin Paul!We also had a visit from Cousin Olivia!!!She was in town to celebrate her 8th birthday!
Can you spot Owen, Ben, and Olivia???
President's Day- A trip to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural HistoryA budding palentologist???
Owen loved the dinosaurs and spent quite a lot of time checking out the dino bone lab through the windows. He wanted to know about everything! We read all of the plaques and talked about it for quite awhile!
A giant squid!!!
Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef- I'd read about this, but didn't realize it was at the museum...
It was really beautiful and crazy and amazing!
Definitely a highlight for a knitter!
We usually take the train into DC, but the weather was cold and yucky, as you can see, so we decided to drive. Here is a view from our great parking spot. When we pulled in, Owen said, "We're right by the Washington Monument."
The next day, Grammy came to visit! We were very excited to have her! Her timing was great... I came down with mastitis while she was here, so it was even better to have her! We had a great time hanging around and playing. On Saturday, before we went to the airport, we took advantage of the trip to BWI and had lots of fun in Baltimore.
We ate some delicious seafood at Phillips
Enjoyed walking around the Inner Harbor
And went to the Baltimore Science Center
On an archeological dig...
Sitting in a dinosaur footprint...And, if you were wondering, Ben did not get wacked with the yard stick
They had a great baby area for Mr. Ben
They also had an Antarctica exhibit. The boys loved the little penguins! Especially Owen! My friend Laura, who has been in Antarctica, has sent him lots of cool penguin stuff!
Here I am trying on a giant Antarctica coat, just like Laura has!
It was a great way to wrap up visit! We hope Grammy can come back soon!
Somebody turned 4!!!
And, as you can imagine, there was LOTS of celebrating!!! We were very lucky to have Mimi here to celebrate Owen's birthday with us! She was on Spring Break.
We had a small, but fun, firefighter birthday!!!
Mostly family, but Owen did have one buddy over to celebrate!
We played pin the tail on the fire dog (Owen's idea... I made the fire dog!)
And even had a pinata!
Check out this awesome cake, made by one of the moms at Owen's preschool. I just told her he wanted a fire fighter themed cake. I was expecting a firetruck drawn on a cake or something, but this was pretty fantastic!
Just to give you a view of the front...
And these were he firefighter cupcakes she made for school
And, it was delicious!
And, he received some really fantastic gifts!!! He's been having lots of fun!
Mimi flew out very early Monday morning and Grandpa George and Uncle Sam flew in a little bit later that morning. Sam will be moving to DC for an internship this summer, so he and Dad came out to meet with his boss and look for a place for him to live. Owen offered Sam his bottom bunk for the summer, several times :o)
We did a few fun things while they were visiting including the park
Monkey see, monkey do, huh?!
Dog Fishhead Brewery (per Sam's request!) and bowling. Owen always loves to go bowling with Grandpa George...
I don't know if you can see, but I bowled my best game ever (by a landslide!!!) 10 spares!
My secret- Bowling with Ben on my back! Really!
And here is a picture of Sam, all spiffed up before his meeting. Looking good!
Last but not least, a visit from the Elliott-Fonberg's (or is it Fonberg-Elliott's??!!)
They were in Alexandria for Gosia's law conference, so we spent Saturday hanging around with Laura and they stayed Sunday night with us before they flew home on Monday! It was lots of fun! We just wish they could have stayed longer!
As you can see, March was EXTREMELY busy (and fun) for the Walsh Fam... Better late than never, right?!
