Finished Objects...

Here are some recent knitting FO's...

The Rocky Coast Cardigan-  Finally done!  Featuring Walsh Baby #3 at 25 weeks gestation...
Knit in Organik by the Fibre Company in the Arctic Tundra color way on size 8 and 10 US knitting needles.
I love how this sweater turned out and I think I'll get plenty of use out of it for many Falls and Winters to come!  It is a very warm sweater, so I don't know how much I'll wear it now due to the lovely and unseasonably warm weather we have been having and these pregnancy hormones that have kept me pretty warm and cozy all winter long!

These are the Mystery Socks I knit with the Through the Loops knit-a-long.  They are knit in Madelinetosh Sock yarn in the Kale color way on US size 1 needles.  I absolutely love them and think they are the most beautiful pair of socks ever!

This is the Curly Purl Soaker by Marnie Anne Joyce.  It is the first soaker I've ever knit.  For those of you who don't know, it is a cover for cloth diapers.  I knit it for a friend's baby and chose red because they are Nebraska Husker fans.  I knit the size small and used Lion Brand Wool and size 3, 5, and 7 US needles.  She said it fits well, so I can't wait to hear how it works.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Happy
Saint
Patrick's
Day!

Our new favorite game is Owen writes the letters we tell him with chalk on the  patio.  He is always excited to find out what he has written and it is great practice for him with his letters and sounding words out.

Leprechaun tuxedo!  So cute!

Like we needed an invitation!  Owen could barely interrupt his yard work for a picture :o)

Epic Pinterest fail!  I'm not sure how I messed this up, but the chocolate just didn't melt.  The kisses got very gloppy and when we tried to put the M & M's on (in the shape of a shamrock!)  They all cracked.  They tasted fine, but were super ugly!  I put the pretzels and kisses in the oven at 200 degrees and kept checking them.  Then, I tried some in the microwave to see if that worked better, but it really didn't.  Maybe I just overcooked them???  What did I mess up?  If you have made these before, please chime in!  I'd appreciate it for next time!  By the way, we had to eat a lot of M & M's to get that many greens!  It was quite an effort on everyone's part!

We also made our traditional Walsh Family Crock Pot Corned Beef Dinner, accompanied by Irish Soda bread from Great Harvest.  Here is the recipe, if you are interested...

1 1/2lb small red potatoes
4 garlic cloves peeled
1 4lb corned beef brisket with seasoning packet, rinsed and trimmed
2 whole cloves
1 sm onion
24 baby carrots
1 sm white cabbage, cut into 8 wedges

Arrange potatoes and garlic in bottom of slow cooker.  Place corned beef on top of vegetables and sprinkle with seasoning packet.  Push cloves into onion and add to cooker.  Add enough water to just cover meat; cover and cook on low until tender (6.5-8 hrs.)  Transfer meat to cutting board and cover with foil to keep warm.  Add carrots and cabbage to cooker, turn to high, cover and cook until just tender, about 30 min.  Slice beef across grain and serve with potatoes, carrots, and cabbage.
*Note- I usually just throw the carrots and cabbage in at the beginning, too, if there is enough room in the crock pot.  They are still pretty crunchy if you watch until 30 min before serving.  At the least, I would turn the crock pot up to high and cook for an hour.
Enjoy!

Somebody is 5!

I know!  How did this happen???  I keep telling him that he needs to slow down and stop growing, but does he listen???  Clearly he does not!

Enjoying some early morning gift birthday gifts!

He wanted a police themed birthday...

This one has been quite a hit with the boys!  Thanks Emmy and Jimbo!

Celebration popsicles- they can either taken fruit or popsicles for snack at preschool on their birthday.  Owen picked "Super Hero Popsicles"  Big surprise!

Amazingly, there were enough leftover to share with Ben!

For dinner, Owen requested a visit to Red Robin with Mimi and Grandpa Jimmy.  We hadn't been there since Owen's birthday last year.  Clearly he remembered the birthday hot fudge sundae!

Not to worry... Ben got one, too!  Which, by the way, he insisted sharing with "Baby Sister"  by feeding Mommy some spoonful!  I did not complain!

I think he liked it :o)
